For the most part, I am and have been a liberal. Nevertheless, there are conservative individuals, ideas, and ideals that I respect a great deal. I cannot imagine being a thoughtful conservative in the US today; the Republican Party has been reduced to obstructionism and simplistic fear mongering. The GOP seems to have little interest in any purpose other than returning to power. How can well-meaning, thoughtful conservatives accept this?
